State of the Game
This March, with both a Winter and Spring god in residence, the weather has been fairly pleasant for late winter. There was one last big snowfall, then highs getting up into the 40s and 50s.
Currently unoccupied thrones:
Law and Justice
Who decides what's right and wrong? Is there such a thing? If you think so, you may want to take this throne, because right now Vernos Bay is in anarchy. The only consequences for your actions are those your victims choose to give you. Stores have started hiring guards to discourage theft, which is the current most common crime in the city.
War and Discord
All of the lawlessness has a very watered-down impact on city morale. What was once considered criminal is now just a real bummer, but there's nothing we can do about it, right? We can act all tough, but when it comes down to it the natives just don't seem to know how to throw a punch, or think of a scathing insult. Everything is kept very organized, though. Lost inventory is carefully noted, and would-be conflicts are sorted hypothetically so that order is maintained.
Water
Drinking water has gotten much more expensive, as it now has to be carefully boiled and filtered. The animals don't seem to mind too much, actually. This is a weird new development: emotions seem weirdly muted. This is especially apparent in the locals. If you think about it for more than a second, though, everything seems pretty normal. Weird.
Air
The air is breathable, but at what cost? Everything smells vaguely of sour water and weird emissions. The air itself just feels excessively dry, or way too humid. Allergies also abound, though nobody can say exactly what's in season. Grass? Some kind of grass, probably.
Agriculture
Nobody from the temple had seen their god in like, a month, so she probably gave up on us, right? This throne now stands empty, leaving the fields looking a little sparse. Crops still grow and farm animals still live, of course, but they're smaller than you'd like and prone to disease. Groceries cost more and just aren't as big or juicy as they should be.
Life
Life is just plain unpleasant. Children are louder, messier, and more disruptive. Teenagers are more actively antagonistic and rebellious, and seem to have formed a bunch of small gangs. You can tell, because they like to hang around outside and anywhere they aren't wanted. They're all into smoking, too. Gross. Young adults aren't getting nearly enough sleep, and are even worse at organizing their lives than normal, having an adverse affect on their emotional stability. Middle age involves more aches and weird body changes, and plenty of reminders that you aren't as young as you used to be. There don't seem to be as many elderly around as before... hopefully they're at home, being taken care of.
Autumn
Here's something else that's new and weird: Partings are, as a rule, really drawn out and awkward. There are probably some other odd effects of this throne being empty, but we're figuring it out as we go along.
Dreams
Sleep is dreamless, which might be a blessing... but waking life seems pretty dreamless too. Go on, try to daydream. Drawing a blank? We all are.
What's New?
We now have a suggestion box, where you can help me figure out what the heck I'm doing. Also added is a Worldbuilding Post so we have a place to do worldbuilding that doesn't require social media! Need help coming up with tiers? Go ahead and ask!
Some small changes have been made to the elemental and seasonal thrones, making them just a little more fun year round: Water now includes emotion, Earth includes mental and emotional stability, Fire includes willpower, Air includes imagination and intellect. Spring includes new beginnings, Summer includes extroversion and energy, Autumn includes endings and preparation and Winter includes introspection. For the most part these changes won't be noticed, since the thrones are occupied, but it's something to keep in mind.
And now, a poll!
Apparently this can only be done by paid accounts.
